Versa Networks Achieves NSS Labs Recommended Rating

San Jose, Calif., July 17, 2018

Versa Networks – innovator of a next-generation software platform that integrates cloud, networking and security services – announced that NSS Labs, Inc., a global leader and trusted source for independent, fact-based cybersecurity guidance, has recognized Versa with a Recommended rating for the NSS Labs Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) Group Test.

Digital transformation is driving an architecture transformation of the edge network. Multi-cloud inbound traffic and SaaS application adoption are adding extra pressure on the WAN as enterprises seek to enhance the customer experience and employee engagement as competitive differentiators. However, IT budgets are not increasing at the same rate as traffic growth and thus, the branch transition to accommodate multi-cloud services in an elevated threat environment requires a re-architecture of traditional WAN and security topologies.

While Software-Defined WAN (SD-WAN) is a compelling value proposition from an application performance, bandwidth utilization and cost optimization standpoint, Versa’s Secure SD-WAN implementation is the real game changer, because it uniquely enables direct access to the Internet for SaaS and Cloud services so that every location is connected to the Internet with enterprise-class security and robust connectivity integrated into one software platform.

Versa’s NGFW technology is enabled by the Secure Cloud IP architecture – a cloud-native multi-service, multi-tenant software platform that delivers elastic scale, segmentation, programmability and automation. Versa Secure Cloud IP integrates cloud networking, SD-WAN, wireless and mobile connectivity, transport line conditioning and software-defined security services (NGFW/UTM) in a flexible, versatile software stack that displaces multiple legacy branch-office hardware devices.

According to NSS Labs’ report released today, using NSS Labs’ Recommended policy, the Versa solution achieved better than average scores for security effectiveness, blocking exploit attacks with 100 percent accuracy against the 190 evasions tested. In addition, Versa passed all stability and reliability tests. Additionally, Versa delivered low TCO for implementation of security solutions, which is traditionally highly complex, with several factors affecting the overall cost of deployment, maintenance and upkeep.

“Applying Versa’s platform architecture to enterprise edge and managed security environments results in the ability to deploy software-defined security with fewer hardware devices and streamline operations (policy and enforcement),” said Atchison Frazer, worldwide head of marketing, Versa Networks. “The Recommended rating by NSS Labs confirms our ability to deliver high security effectiveness and performance.”

NSS Labs conducted testing based on the NGFW Test Methodology v8.0, the Secure Sockets Layer/Transport Layer Security Performance Test Methodology v1.3, and the Evasions Test Methodology v1.1, all of which are available at www.nsslabs.com. Testing of Versa FlexVNF was conducted free of charge and NSS Labs did not receive any compensation in return for Versa Networks’ participation.
