Unified SASE for your digital transformation

Organizations are increasingly turning to SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) to support a distributed hybrid workforce, increased use of cloud services, and a heightened threat environment.

Versa Unified SASE delivers converged network security with software-defined WAN and LAN capabilities to support these dynamic, secure connectivity needs. Powered by AI/ML and running on the VersaONE platform, Versa’s single stack software solution dramatically simplifies SASE deployment and operations, and the single- pass scanning architecture delivers unparalleled performance along with network and security visibility.

Why “unified”?

Many SASE solutions available in the market today have been stitched together using a mix of disparate components and services from acquired companies or partners. While such cobbled-together solutions might offer temporary fixes or appear cost-effective initially, they often lead to increased complexity, costs, and risks in the long term. Shifting from “bolt-on” to “unified” transforms your security, simplifies management, and consolidates costs, giving you a forward-looking, adaptable foundation to drive your business forward.

Unified management and operations

Versa Unified SASE consolidates multiple security and networking products into a single solution, generating performance synergies and reducing administrative cost and complexity. This fully integrated approach begins with a unified software stack at the operating system level, rather than separate systems bolted together with APIs, and enables:

  • Single-pass parallel processing
As a packet traverses the network, each packet is processed only once. This means all networking and security functions are performed only once, significantly reducing processing overhead, service inconsistency, and attack surface.
  • Unified data lake and analytics
Provides context-rich visibility to support AIOps and threat detection without having to ingest and normalize data from separate systems. This sets the foundation for consistent, rich context that powers analytics and AI/ML.
  • Unified SASE client
Integrates SASE connectivity and security, bringing together resilient and dynamic best path selection with security policies based on Zero Trust and continuously assessed device posture.
  • Unified policy repository
Consistent policy application that follows users and devices wherever they are. Configure once and apply consistently across your infrastructure.
  • Single-pane-of-glass unified management
Simplifies the management of multiple products under a single management console.

Panoramic AI/ML for improved ops and security

Versa integrates a panoramic data set from across the VersaONE platform and the entire infrastructure – from the WAN edge to cloud, headquarters and remote branches, users and devices – into a unified data lake. VersaAI™ taps into this data lake and applies a broad set of machine learning, predictive algorithms, and artificial intelligence models to generate threat protection, data protection, and operational insights for Versa Unified SASE in real time. Integrated AIOps automates routine tasks and maintenance, improving outcomes and reducing the operational burden on your IT teams.

Simplify multi-tenant services

Multi-tenancy is a crucial feature for a Unified SASE solution as it enables one deployment to serve multiple customers or business units securely and efficiently from a single instance of the software. Each tenant benefits from individualized virtual routing, VLANs, and service chains, maintaining full independence across control, data, and management planes. Everyday examples include:

  • Mergers and acquisitions
Combining the IT infrastructures of merging companies can be a complex and expensive process. Consolidate multiple environments into a single platform, reducing infrastructure and operational costs.
  • Supporting business units
Enable management separation between business units while centralizing core infrastructure and application management.
  • Multiple networks at a single branch
Maintain logical separation of networks, ensuring that each network operates independently in a cost-effective, scalable, and efficient management experience.
  • Separate IT from OT networks
Share the same physical infrastructure while logically separating IT and OT networks. This segmentation is vital for preventing unauthorized access between IT and OT environments and protecting sensitive OT systems.

SASE fabric for an assured user experience

Benefit from an assured user-to-application experience with an adaptive, best path selection capability. It securely connects the user or device based on multiple end-to-end attributes (e.g., jitter, MOS score, latency) for all available paths including your own internet connection. Each user, device, or location is concurrently connected to multiple gateways. Any failure or degradation will result in a seamless failover to the alternate gateway – fully transparent to the user.

Flexible architecture for any environment

Versa SASE services are deployed on-premises in branch offices, work-at-home environments, regional offices, headquarters, data centers, and cloud environments.

  • Users and devices
Remote or hybrid users have a client-based or clientless option for an “always on” connection to workloads in private or public clouds. Users are connected to Versa Unified SASE gateways based on proximity, load, and other real-time variables. Using the client unlocks device posture information that can be used for policy enforcement.
  • Branch and corporate offices
Use a Versa Secure SD-WAN device or a third-party SD-WAN, router, or firewall to enable users and/devices to access workloads in private or public clouds or to connect to other corporate sites. Using Versa SD-WAN as an on-ramp delivers end-to-end observability and control for user-to-app and device-to-app performance and security.
  • IaaS and SaaS apps
Dynamic path selection for SaaS and IaaS with optimized access and express routes to hyperscalers.
  • Data center
With Versa’s Secure SD-NIC, extend the security perimeter directly into compute devices, unlocking capabilities that include ZTNA, adaptive micro-segmentation, and inline traffic inspection.
  • Open architecture
Versa’s non-proprietary and automated approach means seamless integration with your existing infrastructure. With native integrations and open APIs at its core, it works with an ecosystem of third party tools that range from identity providers, SIEMs, NetDevOps, cloud infrastructure, and third party VNFs. These integrations extend the platform’s use cases and enable you to build an architecture that avoids vendor lock-in.
  • Hardware agnostic
Versa supports the widest set of deployment options in the industry and is designed to run directly on bare metal Versa CSG appliances with industry-leading features. Versa also runs on certified and preconfigured white box platforms, hypervisor VMs (VMware ESXi, KVM, Xen, and Microsoft Hyper-V), and IaaS platforms (Amazon, Google, and Microsoft).
