Versa Networks Achieves VMware Ready for NFV Certification

Company continues launch momentum by achieving highest level of VMware partner endorsement.
Santa Clara, Calif., November 17, 2015

Versa Networks, a networking and security startup providing next-generation WAN and branch solutions for service providers and enterprises, today announced that it is one of the first companies to complete the formal certification process to achieve VMware Ready for NFV status. Versa virtualized network functions (VNF) are now proven compatible with VMware NFV infrastructure, giving service providers the confidence that Versa VNF-based solutions will deploy, run on and interoperate with vCloud NFV.

Since the official announcement of the VMware Ready certification program for NFV at VMworld® Europe, Versa has created and validated real-world NFV solutions running on the VMware virtualization platform. Service providers can deploy Versa VNFs – coupled with VMware NFV infrastructure – to build a range of highly efficient managed service offerings, from small footprint virtualized CPE (vCPE) for SMB customers to robust managed SD-WAN services with layered security for mid-market and large businesses.

To achieve VMware Ready certification, the Versa solution underwent rigorous testing to establish that its VNFs deploy, run, and interoperate with vCloud NFV. The VMware Ready program designates VMware’s highest level of endorsement for products and solutions created by established partners.

“We are pleased that Versa Networks qualifies for the VMware Ready logo, signifying to customers that it has met specific VMware interoperability standards and works effectively with VMware infrastructure, which can speed time to value within customer environments,” said Howard Hall, senior director, Global Technology Partnering Organization, VMware.

The Versa VNF solution consists of three components that together create next-generation WANs and branch networks:

  • Versa FlexVNF: The core building block for Versa VNF solutions, which includes a broad set of virtualized network and security functions with carrier-grade multi-tenancy, programmability, service chaining, service elasticity, and cost-effective deployment choices
  • Versa Director: Single point of centralized control and management for both connectivity and services
  • Versa Analytics: A real-time analytics engine that provides control, visibility, prediction and a feedback loop for adaptability

“Service providers are under enormous pressure to develop and provision managed services more rapidly, increase top line service revenue through more robust offerings, and improve profitability through lower capital and operating costs,” said Kumar Mehta, founder and CEO of Versa Networks. “Being one of the first vendors to complete the VMware Ready for NFV certification demonstrates our commitment to creating an open solution that meets the agility and cost efficiency requirements of our mutual customers.”
