Versa Portal is the web-based management dashboard administrators use to onboard, configure, monitor, and license Versa devices and organizations. It covers device inventory, tenant (organization) settings, user administration, and network and security configuration, and it offers both a full administrator view and a scoped view for individual users.

Key takeaways

  • Web dashboard for onboarding, configuring, monitoring, and licensing devices.
  • Organized around Inventory, Org Settings, Users, Configure, and Monitor.
  • Supports LDAP, SAML, RADIUS, and Kerberos for end-user authentication.
  • Enterprise Admin and Enterprise User roles scope what each account sees.
  • Alarms route to Director and Analytics, with configurable notifications.

Why is Versa Portal important?

Every device, policy, and tenant in a Versa deployment has to be onboarded, configured, and watched by someone, and Versa Portal is where that work happens day to day. Rather than administrators touching individual appliances, Portal centralizes organization settings, authentication profiles, and user administration in one dashboard, so a change made once – a custom URL category, an SNMP profile, an alert rule – becomes available to every device in the organization.

Its account model is what makes that centralization safe at scale. An enterprise administrator sees the full Users, Org Settings, and Inventory surface, while an individual enterprise user’s menu is limited to what they’re permitted to touch, such as Configure, Monitor, and Troubleshoot. That separation lets a single organization support many admins and users with different scopes of control, and it lets operators, MSPs, and resellers add tenants without every tenant seeing each other’s configuration.

What is Versa Portal?

Versa Portal is organized around a left-hand menu of functional modules: Inventory for device and license state, Org Settings for tenant-wide configuration, Users for account administration, and Configure/Monitor/Troubleshoot for day-to-day device operations. Organization settings apply across every device in a tenant rather than per device – a management profile, authentication profile, or spoke group configured once is available to the whole organization.

User administration follows the same tenant model: an enterprise administrator can add Versa IDP, external-IdP, or VSPA (RAC/RAS) accounts, assign Enterprise Admin or Enterprise User privileges, enable two-factor authentication, and import or export accounts in bulk through an Excel template. Versa Portal also supports single sign-on between service providers and identity providers, so operators, store admins, MSPs, and resellers can enable SSO when adding a tenant.

Versa Portal components

Inventory tracks devices, their deployment and license status, and appliance proxy settings for gateways that need LDAP-backed authentication. Org Settings holds tenant-wide configuration: management profiles (custom logs, SNMP, DHCP lease, cloud file-filtering, custom applications and URL categories, SNAT pools, alerts and notifications, VNF manager), spoke group topologies for hub-and-spoke SD-WAN designs, and the Authenticator tab for LDAP, SAML, RADIUS, and Kerberos profiles used to authenticate end users. Users is where enterprise administrators view, add, edit, delete, lock, and export user accounts, and assign roles and privileges. Configure, Monitor, and Troubleshoot – the modules visible to individual enterprise users – expose per-device settings, health and alarm information, and diagnostic tools.

Versa Portal & the VersaONE platform

Versa Portal doesn’t manage devices on its own – it’s the tenant-facing dashboard in front of the same headend that runs the rest of a Versa deployment. Custom applications and URL categories added in Portal are pushed to Director and to VOS devices; alarms generated in Portal route to Director and Analytics, where notification policies and webhooks turn them into email or SMS alerts. Authentication profiles configured once in Portal are reused across every device in the organization instead of being defined per appliance.

This mirrors the platform’s broader tenant model: organizations in Portal correspond to the same tenant construct that Director and Controller use to isolate customers, so administration in Portal, orchestration in Director, and fabric membership at the Controller all operate on the same organizational boundaries.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between an Enterprise Admin and an Enterprise User in Versa Portal?

An Enterprise Admin has full access, including the Users module for creating and managing accounts. An Enterprise User sees a scoped menu – typically Configure, Monitor, and Troubleshoot – with read/write access to specific settings like WAN, LAN, and Security, and read-only access to most everything else.

How do I add a new user to Versa Portal?

From the Users dashboard, click Add User, enter the account’s name and email, choose a platform (Versa IDP, External IdP, or VSPA for remote-access users), assign Enterprise Admin or Enterprise User privileges, and click Create. Accounts can also be imported in bulk from an Excel template.

What authentication methods does Versa Portal support for end users?

Versa Portal supports LDAP (including Active Directory), SAML for single sign-on, RADIUS, and Kerberos, each configured as a profile on the Authenticator tab under Org Settings. A profile is defined once per organization and reused across every device and authentication rule in that tenant.

What is a spoke group in Versa Portal?

A spoke group is an organization-level template that controls traffic flow between hubs, hub controllers, and branch spokes in an SD-WAN topology – Spoke to Hub Only, Spoke to Spoke via Hub, or Spoke to Spoke Direct. Devices bound to the same spoke group inherit its properties.

Can Versa Portal notify administrators when an alarm occurs?

Yes. Alarms generated in Portal are sent to the Director and Analytics nodes, and on Director you can configure alert rules with match conditions – alarm type, severity, device name, or a count within a time window – that trigger email or SMS notifications.
