Versa Networks Continues the Shift Towards Open Software-Defined WAN

Versa Will Demonstrate and Present in Sessions on SD-WAN, SD-Security and Open SD-WAN Exchange at ONUG
Santa Clara, Calif., October 21, 2016

Versa Networks, a leading provider of software-defined wide area networks (SD-WAN) and software-defined security (SD-Security) solutions for service providers and enterprises, announced its participation at the annual Open Networking User Group (ONUG), October 24-25, in New York. Dogu Narin, senior director, product management at Versa Networks will take the stage as a panelist for the Open SD-WAN Exchange (OSE) Update session and will also present two proof of concepts (PoC) on the interoperability of SD-Security and SD-WAN for attendees.

What: As an innovator in the rapidly evolving software-defined WAN (SD-WAN) market, which IDC has forecast to be reach $6B by 2020, Versa has been an active participant in ONUG’s Open SD-WAN Exchange (OSE), an open framework for interoperability between SD-WAN vendors. Additionally, in an effort to strengthen the move towards a truly open and software-based solution for SD-WAN, Versa Networks introduced the industry’s first Open SD-WAN Ecosystem earlier this month. Over three sessions during ONUG, Versa will share its ongoing innovation around developing open and software-based SD-WAN solutions.

When: “Versa Networks PoC – Software-Defined Security Services”

This session will examine distributed access control and security policies across all WAN data plane workloads based on business needs (Cloud/SaaS application deployment, direct Internet access with malware protection) while maintaining security/compliance requirements. It will also showcase the policies needed at all branch workloads for advanced security and access control and how the policies are centrally controlled and managed.

“Versa Networks PoC – SD-WAN”

The SD-WAN demo will demonstrate an application based traffic engineering setup in which hybrid SD-WAN will be used to leverage Broadband and MPLS based connections on each branch site. In this setup application traffic detail will be provided with details such as jitter and latency, application SLAs and advanced traffic management functions will be implemented to provide the best application experience when network congestion and drops are happening. Also, this demo will also highlight the policy and traffic management capabilities of Versa’s Direct Internet Access feature-set applied for Cloud SaaS providers.

Open SD-WAN Exchange (OSE) Update (panel discussion)

SD-WAN has emerged as the hottest software-defined networking market thanks to its ability to lower cost, shift control of network state and resources to IT business leaders, and deliver multiple WAN transport options and agility to provide secure connectivity for hybrid clouds. Earlier this year, the ONUG SD-WAN working group began a new phase to explore additional use cases that resulted in the Open SD-WAN Exchange (OSE), presented at ONUG Spring 2016. During summer 2016, ONUG organized workshops with IT executives and SD-WAN vendors to further develop OSE. In this session, lead members of the initiative will provide an OSE update and chart its course of development.
